our Initiatives

ASAP

ASAP (Austin Safety Action Plan) is a youth designed strategy that will address community violence and reactivation. The Austin Safety Action Plan is occupying and activating spaces within the designated safe zone. Through youth-led village building activities in the safe  zone the community will have the opportunity to rebuild and transform areas that are commonly used for loitering and idle behavior. ASAP is replacing those idle activities with opportunities to engage the families of Austin creating a healthy healing space.

Pushin Peace

Pushin Peace schools tour is a traveling peer driven presentation and workshop for schools. As a prelude to Austin Safety Action Plan, Pushin Peace promotes community centered peace building. Our goal with Pushin Peace is two fold: we are connecting a positive image around peace through peer relationships. While also engaging and encouraging students in a process of change that uplifts their voices.

We outside

As an arm of our Austin Safety Action Plan our newest initiative We Outside is aimed at creating a Chicago nostalgia. Summer time Chi has always been significant to Chicago natives. It was a signal of being able to enjoy the beautiful weather and creative fun that is the pulse of our city. In more recent years the narrative of summer in our city has changed. People began to stay inside or spend their time drawn to technology. This left valuable communal spaces to be taken over and used for idle behavior. We Outside is a campaign to empower our people to spend more time outside and visibly active in their communities. Our We Outside initiative will include our inaugural ASAP Leaders Camp. A specialized camp for 20 middle schoolers from the Westside. For six weeks we will explore our city and its culture while also activating safe spaces with our ASAP opportunities of engagement.
