From the root
Root2Fruit Youth Foundation is a labor of love that found its roots in the compassionate heart of its founder, Aisha Oliver. The genesis of this transformative initiative took place during Aisha's tenure at Austin Town Hall with the Chicago Park District, where her deep connection with the community and its youth blossomed. Aisha, affectionately known as Ms. Pooh to the kids in Austin, discovered her passion for empowering young minds and creating engaging initiatives that allowed them to take ownership of their neighborhood. In 2009, Aisha organically evolved into the neighborhood mom, a natural nurturer whose healing journey found solace in protecting and proactively guiding the youth of Austin.
It was this unwavering commitment and genuine concern for the well-being of the community's children that led Aisha to create Root2Fruit Youth Foundation. For her, it was not about establishing an organization but about cultivating a family within the community. Aisha envisioned a safety net outside of the kids' homes, a place where they could find unwavering support and guidance. The foundation, born out of a desire to build a village, became a testament to Aisha's belief that collective care and mentorship could foster a sense of belonging and empowerment among the youth, transcending the boundaries of an organization to create a true community of support.
